Obituary

ABBYVILLE - Richard F. "Dick" Waddle, 75, died Aug. 17, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born Oct. 12, 1931, in Abbyville, the son of Fred S. and Edna P. Krauter Waddle. He graduated in 1949, from Abbyville High School. He was a lifelong farmer and was a machinist for Cessna for 25 years.

He belonged to New Life Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

On Sept. 10, 1955, he married Shirley Mae Scantlin in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include their children and spouses: Terry and Kelvin Woods, Enid, Okla., Rob and Denise, Parkville, Mo., Jim, Parkville, Mo., Julie Waddle, Topeka, and Amy and Curtis Wiltse, Manhattan; a brother, Bob, Abbyville; a sister, Darlene Buck, South Hutchinson; and eight grandchildren, Abby, James, Garret Woods, Alex and Jessica Waddle, Kathryn Waddle, and Ryan and Shay Wiltse.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Dan Price presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary, with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. Burial will be in Abbyville Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
