Richard J. Webb Jr., 90, of South Hutchinson, died Sept. 23, 2016, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born Dec. 3, 1925, in Walnut, to Richard J. Sr. and Vera Marie (Hook) Webb. He served from 1944 to 1946 in the United States Marine Corps. Richard retired from KSIR as a correctional officer.
On June 28, 1948, he married Mary Helen Urban in Hutchinson. They shared 68 years of marriage. He is survived by: wife, Mary of the home; daughters, Ruth Martinie, Patricia Best (Harlan), all of Hutchinson, Vivian Sorenson of North Platte, Neb., Catherine Hixon, Barbara Webb, both of Norman, Okla., Frances Ronnau (Robert), Christine Webb, all of Mesa, Ariz., Rita Carpenter (Kris), of Colwich, Mary Walker (David Cunningham) of Overland Park; sons, Richard III of Walker, David, Daniel, both of South Hutchinson; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by two grandsons, Brian Sorenson and William Grimes.
A parish rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson, with Father Ned J. Blick officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
