Obituary

Richard K. "Dick" Welborn, 91, died March 10, 2007, at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson.

He was born Feb. 8, 1916, in La Cygne, the son of Richard Gregory and Lelah Frances Rose Welborn. In 1934, he graduated from Hutchinson High School and in 1936, he graduated from Hutchinson Community College. A resident of Hutchinson since 1933, he was the retired owner and operator of Welborn Supply, an auto parts business started by Richard G. Welborn.

He belonged to First Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon, Hutchinson. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corp.

On April 14, 1940, he married Alice Grace Weber in Hutchinson. She died Oct. 6, 1995.

Survivors include: a son, Jim, Hutchinson; two daughters, Deborah McDaniel, Derby, and Karyl Stevens, Pratt; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; and a grandson, Derek Wade Siemens.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Tim Soule presiding. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. The body will be cremated. Private family inurnment will take place at the church columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Salvation Army or Hospice of Reno County, in care of the mortuary.
