Obituary

Rj Ratliff, 82, went to be with his Lord, Aug. 17, 2008, at his home, Hutchinson.

He was born June 4, 1926, in Hardy, Ark., the son of P.H. and Annie L. Stites Ratliff. A resident of Hutchinson since 1955, he was a construction worker for the City of Hutchinson. He belonged to the 11th Avenue Chapel. He served in the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1956, as a Corporal.

On Jan. 17, 1953, he married Hattiebell "Earlene" Gibson in Lake City, Ark. She survives.

Other survivors include: daughters, Glenda J. Schultz and husband Matt, Omaha, Neb., Marilyn Ann Kunzie and husband Tom, Hutchinson, Phyllis E. Taulborg and husband Terry, Emerson, Iowa, Karen L. Bruce and husband Brian D., South Hutchinson, and Karolyn L. Bargenoe, Hutchinson; a brother, L.B., Olathe; sisters, Mary Christine Gibson, Mountain Home, Ark., Hazel P. Stone, Rockford, Ill., Alta A. Adams, Salt Lake City, and Dolly June Gileland, Lawrence; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter, Arabella Johnson.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 20, 2008, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Frank Miller presiding. Friends may sign the register from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society in care of the mortuary.
