Robert J. "Bob" Battey, 78, of Hutchinson, died May 20, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born July 13, 1946, in Hutchinson, to Dale and Lola (Tennant) Battey.

Bob graduated from Hutchinson Community College and was drafted into the United States Air Force. Then, he worked in sales at Cessna and spent his career in various sales positions in the business industry. Bob was a proud member of the Reno County Sheriff's reserve.

On August 28, 1966, Bob married Janis Thompson. They shared 58 years together before his death.

Bob is survived by: beloved wife, Janis Battey of Hutchinson; daughter, Kim (Dan) Oborny of Durham; grandsons, Ethan (Cassidy) Oborny of Durham, Logan (Shannon Taylor) Oborny of Tampa; great-grandson, Beau Oborny of Durham; one aunt, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers; and in-laws, Russell and Arline Thompson.

Cremation has taken place.

Friends may sign his memorial book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Elliott Chapel.
