Obituary

Robert "Bob" Cleland Black, 84, died August 26, 2010, at Dillon Living Center.

He was born January 5, 1926, in Lewis, to Harold Frank and Syvilla Anna Strawn Black.

On July 5, 1951, he married Junivee Leota Unruh in Pretty Prairie. She died June 17, 2008.

Bob served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as corporal from 1944 to 1947. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose No. 982, VFW Bob Campbell Post No. 1361 and American Legion Lyle Rishel Post No. 68, all in Hutchinson. He was a longtime friend of Bill W.

A resident of Hutchinson since 1950, Bob was a machinist and shop foreman at Cessna Aircraft, Hydraulic Division. He retired Dec. 31, 1982, after 30 years of employment. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists.

Survivors include: two daughters, Gail Rassette and husband Mark, and Linda Perrin and husband Dennis; brother, William Black, all of Hutchinson; a sister, Betty Byers, Garden City; four grandchildren, Nicholas and Clinton Perrin, Matthew and Joseph Hayes; and two great-grandchildren, Avery and Braden Hayes.

He was preceded in death by a son, Duane Black, and a son-in-law, Patrick Hayes.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 30, 2010, at South Hutchinson Methodist Church, with Pastor Tim Ault-Duell officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present to receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County, in care of the funeral home.
