Robert J. "Bob" Jones, 86, went to be with Jesus in Heaven on September 17, 2015. He was born June 28, 1929, in Polo, MO, to Robert Forrest and Opal Lucille (Blackwell) Jones. Bob graduated from Polo High School in 1947, and then attended Phillips University in Enid, OK. He was a carpenter by trade while living in Oklahoma.
On June 28, 1953, he married Eleanor Martens in Hutchinson. She survives.
Bob and his wife Ellie and two young children moved to Hutchinson on November 5, 1962, to work at the Christian Supply Store, which he later owned and operated until his retirement in 1993. He was born again at the age of twelve and was a member of CrossPoint Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: son, Robert J. Jones Jr. of North Richland Hills, TX; daughters, Terri Main and husband Bob of Hutchinson, Judy Vanlandingham and husband Jake of Wichita; six grandchildren, Jonas, Candace (Kris), Molly (Chase), Abby, Isabel and Greta; and five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Sofie, Logan and Palmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a great-granddaughter, Halley Brown.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Buhler Municipal Cemetery, with Pastor Andy Addis presiding.
