Robert L. "Bob" Stone, 79, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012, at Thorne Care Center, Wesley Towers, Hutchinson. Bob was born in Rolla, Kan., on July 3, 1932, to William John and Ethel Day Stone.

He graduated from Pretty Prairie High School, attended Hutchinson Community College and received a master's degree from Fort Hays State University. He was a teacher and school administrator in Larned and Pawnee Rock. He later owned a feeder pig operation in Larned.

Bob married Carol Wilson on June 1, 1952. She survives. Other survivors include: a sister, Jeanne Littell and husband Art of Wichita; a daughter, Debra Esau and husband Mike; sons, Scott Stone and wife Doreva and Rick Stone and wife Debbi; grandchildren, Matt Esau and wife Amanda, Katie Esau, Jeffrey Stone and wife Rachel, Lacey Stone, Timothy Stone, Samuel Stone, and Layne Stone Evans and husband Brenden; and two great-grandsons, Harrison and Jackson Esau. He was preceded in death by: his parents; and a son, William John Stone II "Billy."

Bob was a Paul Harris Fellow Rotarian. He volunteered at the Hutchinson Public Library in the Adult Literacy program and Youth Friends at Faris and McCandless Elementary in Hutchinson. He was a member of the New Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 700 East 25th Ave., Hutchinson, with Reverend Joe Rychcik presiding. Burial will follow at Lone Star Cemetery, Pretty Prairie. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary.
