Obituary

SOUTH HUTCHINSON - Robert D. Brower, 87, died Oct. 24, 2005, in Clearlake, Houston.

He was born Nov. 26, 1917, in Inman, the son of John and Minnie Brower. A lifetime South Hutchinson resident until moving to Texas in March of 2005, he was the owner of Brower Body and Fender, South Hutchinson.

He was a former member of South Hutchinson United Methodist Church and belonged to Amvets Post No. 11. where he was a former Post Commander and State Commander and Financial Director. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945.

On Oct. 12, 1938, he married Agnes Edna Duerksen in Hutchinson. She died July 6, 1989.

Survivors include: a son, Richard Lee Brower, Clearlake, Houston; a grandson, Jason Brower; and a great-grandson, Judson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Roy; and two sisters, Faye and Myrtle.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Richard Zimmerman presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday with the family present at the mortuary. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson, with military graveside honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
