Obituary

Robert I. Christiansen, 92, died April 27, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born Feb. 9, 1914, at Chicago, the son of Christian A. and Ellen Swanson Christiansen. He was a graduate of Austin High School, North Park Academy, Columbia Business College, Chicago, and took courses in production control at Illinois Institute of Technology. From 1970 to 1977, he owned and operated the Golden Dolphin Bath Accessories and Card Shop in Village Square, Stevensville, Mich., formed a partnership in 1947, owning and operating Witts Pharmacy Inc., Chicago, which he sold in 1970. He moved to Hutchinson in 1998 and to Buhler in 2000.

He belonged to Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.

On Oct. 24, 1936, he married Alice Virginia Olson in Chicago. She died May 2, 1996. On Aug. 25, 1999, he married Hazel V. Parrott in Elm Grove Estates, Hutchinson. She survives.

Survivors include: a son, Steven R. Christiansen, Palatine, Ill.; a daughter, Susan A. Cain, Surprise, Ariz.; a sister, Marjorie Czerwonka, Norridge, Ill.; four grandchildren, Kimberly Schrock, Hutchinson, Ted Schrock, Surprise, Ariz., and Eric and Jeffrey Christiansen, both of Carrollton, Texas; and four great-grandchildren, Quinten and Kelsey Moore and Evan and Elizabeth Christiansen.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Family service will be at Ascension Lutheran Church, Northfield, Ill., at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, is in charge of local arrangements.

Memorials may be sent to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Cancer Society, both in care of the mortuary.
