NICKERSON - Robert Darrell "Bob" Huffman, 90, died Jan. 2, 2011. He was born Jan. 29, 1920, in Larned, the son of Milo R. and Gertrude Mae Rainey Huffman. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalman and had been a Santa Fe Railroad signalman for 35 years, retiring in 1985.
On May 1, 1944, he married Elizabeth C. Kohl in Scott City. She survives. Other survivors and spouses include: four sons, Frank, Nickerson, James and Kathy, Hutchinson, Thomas, Burrton, Joseph and Leslie, Hutchinson; five daughters, Mary Blachford, Alden, Jean and Mike Ober, Pekin, Ill., Delores Huffman, Skiatook, Okla., Vera and John Frye, Lyons, Barbara and Lou Winterfield, Fountain Hills, Arizona; one brother, Ronald, Pleasanton; two sisters, Nadine Henson, Hutchinson, Vada Mae Timken, Orange, Calif.; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Lee, and Byron and one sister, Ellender Strickert.
Rosary will be 5 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, all at Elliott Chapel, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, with Father Dan Lorimer officiating. Burial will be in Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson. Friends may call 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
