Obituary

Robert Edgar "Bob" Koestel, 97, died Friday, May 2, 2014, at Mennonite Friendship Com-munities, South Hutchinson. He was born June 5, 1916, in Partridge, the son of Heinrich and Olga Massoni Koestel.

He was a 1937, graduate of Partridge High School, a U.S. Army veteran with the 75th Field Artillery Battalion, European Theater and a member of South Hutchinson United Methodist Church. Bob was a farmer and self-employed painter.

On April 22, 1964, he married Wanda Lynn McMillin in Hutchinson. She died May 22, 2005. He is survived by: three sisters, Ethel Krug of South Hutchinson, Viola Bontrager, and Evelyn Myers, both of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, and four sisters: infant Walter, Clifford, Albert, Mabel Fryar Ball, Irene Hirst, Annabell Conrad, and Dorothy Sullivan Covert.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, South Hutchinson, with Pastor Warren Hett presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
