Robert E. Fletcher Jr., 85, died Feb. 10, 2008, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
He was born June 9, 1922, in Hutchinson, the son of Robert E. Sr. and Agnes Lillian Russ Fletcher. He was a graduate of Hutchinson High School in 1941. A lifetime Hutchinson area resident he was a retired brick mason.
He belonged to the Crestview Bible Church. A 62-year member of the BAC Union Local No. 24, he served as secretary and business manager. He also belonged to the Salt Shakers Camping Club. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On Dec. 26, 1941, he married Lahoma Lee Crane in Kingman. She died Aug. 1, 2005.
Survivors include: a son, Bob and wife, Connie Fletcher, Hutchinson; two daughters, Sharon and husband, Jim Peterson, Hutchinson, Martha and husband, Charles Bachand, Mission Woods; a brother, Earl, Los Angeles; two sisters, Mary Meyer and Ola Kunzie, both of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey and Tracy McKenzie, Wichita, Philip, Aubrey and James Bachand, Mission Woods, Kristin Schweitzer, Bentonville, Ark., Kim Long, Lawrence; two great-grandchildren, Devlin Bernard of Wichita, and Andrew Schweitzer, Bentonville.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Fletcher.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Crestview Bible Church, 2401 N. Halstead, Hutchinson, with Pastor Phil Auxier presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Private family graveside service will follow in the Arlington Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
