Robert D. "Bob" Geist, 86, died Jan. 13, 2017, at Diversicare, Hutchinson. He was born Oct. 22, 1930, in Sterling, to Charles and Dora (Jeffrey) Geist.
Bob graduated from Abbyville High School in 1948. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the National Association of Atomic Veterans. Bob enjoyed gardening.
Bob is survived by: wife, Velma; sons, Ken Geist and wife Mary of McPherson, Larry Geist and wife Barbara of Hutchinson, Keith Geist and wife Lorna of Bel Aire, William Ray Geist and wife Donna of Sterling; stepchildren, Terry Dunham of Scottsdale, Ariz., Tim Dunham of Lawrence, Connie Bossemeyer of Salina, Neil Dunham of Topeka; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; and grandsons, Tim Snowden and Sgt. Thomas A. Bohall.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with military honors being conducted by McConnell Air Force Base. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
