Obituary

Robert Lee 'Grumpy' Burk Jr., 60, of Hutchinson, died Sunday, November 19, 2017. He was born January 15, 1957, in Hutchinson, to Robert L. and Janice C. (Kimmel) Burk. Grumpy graduated Hutchinson High School in 1975 and was self-employed most of his life. He ran Grumpy's Custom Paint & Cycle for many years, creating signs that are still visible around Hutchinson, as well as show-quality paint for motorcycles, especially Harley-Davidsons. Known for his generous spirit, Grumpy was usually in the company of one or more dogs he had rescued from the street. Whether buying food for a homeless man or cooking and delivering meals to needy families on Thanksgiving, Grumpy did not pass by those less fortunate than himself.

Grumpy was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Ron Burk of Redmond, Washington.

Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the book from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
