SOUTH HUTCHINSON - Robert Lynn Jacques, 85, went home to be with his Lord on Sept. 10, 2008, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.

He was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Hutchinson, the son of Robert L. and Leonora Conway Jacques.

He was a 1941 graduate of Partridge High School. A resident of South Hutchinson, he was a farmer/stockman and herdsman. He retired from farming in 1989. Early in his married life, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He belonged to South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, where he was active and served faithfully for many years. He currently taught the "Interpreters" Sunday school class at church. He served on many boards throughout the years, Farmers Coop Grain at Haven; served on the USD 312 School Board; served on the board of Kansas Association of Wheat Growers; and the Reno County Tax Board.

On Nov. 5, 1944, he married Ruby Smith in South Hutchinson. She survives.

Survivors include: sons, Gary and wife Cindy, Floyd, Iowa, Tom and wife Cathy, Belgrade, Mont., Mark and wife Sharon, Rensselaer, Ind., Ron and wife Vickie and Troy and wife Lisa, all of Hutchinson; sisters, Lora Marie Farney, Stafford, and Virginia Seck, Buhler; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lloyd and Herb; a sister, Flossie Ferbrache; and a grandson, Aryn Jacques.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, with Pastor Tim Ault-Duell presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
