Robert G. "Jerry" Simon, 80, died March 11, 2009 at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson. He was born July 9, 1928 in Hutchinson to Floyd E. and Doris L. Curless Simon. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1945 and from Salt City Business College in 1955.

He served in the United States Army as Staff Sergeant during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Hutchinson.

On February 15, 1971, he married Patricia L. Gough Dennis in Hutchinson. She survives.

He was superintendent of Bond Baking Company for 28 years. He later retired from Carey Salt, where he was a screen room operator. He was a member of the Bakery & Confectionary Workers Union Local #245.

Survivors include: wife, Patricia L. Simon, Hutchinson; son Reverend David Dennis & wife Helen, Knox, IN; three daughters, Brenda Lewis & husband Dr. James, Ft. Wayne, IN, Janet Penner & husband Cliff, Hutch, and Julie Murphy & husband Glenn, Hutch; brother, William Simon & wife Verda, Golden, MO; sister Beverly Gaultney & husband Jim, Petaluma, CA; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2009 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend David Dennis and Pastor Richard Haley officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. The casket will remain closed. Friends may sign the register from 9-9 Thursday and 9-noon Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
