Robert Dean 'Rob' Newton, 58, of Hutchinson, died November 14, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center due to complications from Covid-19. He was born September 12, 1962, in Hutchinson, to Clyde and Berta Lea (Dean) Newton.

Rob graduated from Hutchinson High School and then served in the United States Army for eight years. He was a hero in Desert Storm. Rob later worked for Sonoco for 30 years. He was passionate about music and played bass guitar for many bands for many years. Rob loved to watch KU basketball and sitting in the front row during HCC basketball games. Rob attended First United Methodist Church, where he was raised.

On April 4, 1998, he married Victoria Yingling, in Hutchinson. They shared more than 22 years together.

Rob is survived by: wife, Vici Newton, Hutchinson; son, Matthew Newton (Ivy), Hutchinson; daughter, Jennifer Rucker (Clay), Medicine Lodge; daughter, Krystle Newton (Andy), Hutchinson; son, Paul Newton, Manhattan; daughter, Samantha Martin, Colwich; son, Jordan Newton, Coats; grandchildren, Lily and Memphis Newton, Eyan Blackwell and Sabellah Martin, Corwin, Ross, and Dempsey Newton; brothers, Mark Newton, Connecticut, Randy Newton, Hutchinson; and mother, Berta Lea Newton, Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Newton, and infant brother, Richard Newton.

A private funeral service will be Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Military honors will be conducted by the Kansas Army National Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.
