INMAN - Robert P. "Bob" Hinson Jr., 56, passed away Jan. 13, 2014, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born April 29, 1957, in Colorado Springs, Colo., the son of Robert Sr. and Jean (Ellifritz) Hinson.

An Inman resident since 1983, formerly of Hutchinson, he attended Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Community College. He was the former Chief of Police in Inman, worked for McPherson County Public Works and Dillons Marketplace.

On July 10, 1976, he married Beverly Herrington in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: son, Robert Hinson III (Tiffany) of McPherson; granddaughter, Serena; father-in-law, Orval Herrington (Gail); sister-in-law, Charlotte Powell (David); brother-in-law, David Herrington (Becky); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Joyce Herrington; and sister, Roberta Hirst.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Gary Worthington officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the mortuary.
