Robert J. Raigoza, 83, died Sept. 29, 2014, at his home. He was born Oct. 8, 1930, in Wichita, to Rosendo and Florence Valdez Raigoza.
He was the founder and Pastor for New Harmony Baptist Church for 34 years and a truck driver for Dillons for 23 years, retiring in 1996, and did seasonal work for Fairlawn Burial Park for three years. Robert served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
On March 8, 1954, he married Lucy Raya in Hutchinson, Kan. She survives. Other survivors include: children, Rosetta Ybarra, Greg Raigoza and wife Kim, Elaine Luna and husband Richard, Angela Raigoza, Pastor Chris Raigoza and wife Gena, Robert D. Raigoza and Wendy Morland, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; brothers, Ross and Richard Raigoza; and sisters, Rosa Brown, Rachel Ariza, Florence Hopper, Frances Modesto, Nancy Ragsdale and Jeanie Siebien. He was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Haley Barlow; and brothers, Charles and Raynaldo Raigoza.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Willard Stafford and Pastor Chris Raigoza presiding. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
