Robert Lee "Rocky" Staib, 52, died March 3, 2007, at his home, Hutchinson.

He was born Dec. 22, 1954, in Hutchinson, the son of Bobbie Lee and Dorothy Jean Whittle Staib. He attended Partridge schools, and graduated in 1973 from Nickerson High School, in 1975, from Hutchinson Community College, and had attended Wichita State University. A lifetime Hutchinson resident, he was a warehouseman for Dillons Warehouse for 34 years.

He belonged to Berean Baptist Church, and the Teamsters Local No. 795. His special interests included custom hay cutting and raising cattle.

On Nov. 20, 1976, he married Karen Joy Martin in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: their children and spouses, Nicholas Lee and Kami Jo, Wichita, Jenilee Joy O'Neal and Jonathan Michael, Hutchinson, and Dustin Lee, Wichita; his mother, Dorothy, Hutchinson; two sisters, Linda Staib, Hutchinson, and Connie Moyer and husband, Kent, Sanford, Fla.; and two granddaughters, Evelyn Jo and Madison Lee Staib.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Berean Baptist Church, 1620 Center, Hutchinson, with Pastor Roger Neir presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hutchinson Community College Endowment Association for a Haven High School graduate attending Hutchinson Community College with a major in jazz music or track program, in care of the funeral home.
