Robert W. Watkins' Obituary
Robert W. "Bob" Watkins, 84, died Sept. 29, 2005, at Infinia, Hutchinson.
He was born Dec. 6, 1920, in Harper, the son of Clinton and Stella Hartman Watkins. He graduated from Harper High School. A resident of Hutchinson since 1988, he worked for Northern Natural Gas Company for 30 years, retiring in 1982, as shift manager.
He belonged to Cornerstone Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On July 11, 1942, he married Juanita P. Steele at Dodge City. She died Oct. 26, 1998.
Survivors include: a son, Victor L., and his wife, Ruby, Hugoton; a daughter, Judy K. Dawson, and her husband, Leroy, Lamar, Colo.; a brother, Vernon, Irving, Texas; six grandchildren, Kevin Watkins and his wife, Kim, Philip Dawson and his wife, Donna, Shanna Flores and her husband, Manny, Duane Dawson, Alicia Dawson, and Kristin Farnum and her husband, Gordon; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Sharon Lee and Sandra Sue Watkins; and two sisters, Betty Moore and Shirley Mathis.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Larry Wedel presiding. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hugoton Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to Cornerstone Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.
