Robert 'Dean' Wiedeman, 83, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 26, 2018, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. He was born Sept. 11, 1934, in Russell County, Kansas, the son of Alex and Rachel (Nuss) Wiedeman.

Dean graduated from Russell High School in 1954. He worked for Safeway stores for many years before retiring from USD 308, where he worked as a custodian. Dean was a member of Westside Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time painting and woodcarving at the Delos V. Smith Senior Citizens Center.

On June 12, 1955, Dean married Barbara J. Andrews in Hoisington. She survives. Also surviving are: sons, Kenny of Hutchinson, and Michael and fiancé Linda Manning of Denver, CO; and sister-in-law, Norma Wiedeman of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Marvin.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Tim Adrian officiating. Inurnment will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
