Obituary

Roberta W. Crain, 89, died Oct. 30, 2005, at Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson.

She was born July 5, 1916, in Mount Vernon, Ind., the daughter of Robert and Edith Walters Randolph. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1934. A resident of Hutchinson since 1919, she was a homemaker and waitress at Shrum's Cafe from 1934 to 1956. She also was a Sunday school teacher for 50 years.

She belonged to Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, was a financial secretary, was the founder of Club 80 and a member of United Methodist Women, all of the church. She also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary No. 1361.

On Oct. 28, 1934, she married C. Duain Crain in Hutchinson. He died Jan. 16, 2001.

Survivors include: a daughter, Sharon Schrag, Moundridge; a brother, Gene Shrum, Albuquerque, N.M.; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; three stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Alan D. Stambaugh presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.
