Roberta Thomas
Weaver
October 19, 1927 – August 12, 2020
Roberta June Thomas Weaver, 92 of Hutchinson, KS, peacefully went to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, August 12, 2020. A private family gathering will be scheduled to celebrate Roberta's life and to scatter her ashes.
Born Roberta Belle Eastwood on October 19, 1927 to Robert Fulton & Elsie Isabel (Surface) Eastwood, her middle name was changed when she was adopted at the age of 2 by Theodore & Eva Cook following the untimely passing of her birth mother in 1929. She enjoyed a wonderful childhood with her new parents. A graduate of Wyandotte High School, Roberta was married to Harry Lee Thomas for 48 years prior to his passing in 1995. Working as a diplomat, intermediary, financial planner, head chef, and chauffer for her family, bowling with her best friends in a league at King Louis Ranchmart, taking long vacations in the family trailer, and hiking in the Colorado mountains were her passions. Following Harry's passing, Roberta continued to drive the couple's RV across the country visiting her children and grandchildren during the summer months, and spending her winters in Tucson, AZ. She was also able to take several overseas trips to England, Scotland & Ireland with friends, and saw Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji with her sister.
Shortly after returning to Tucson in late 2004, she fell in love with Eldon Ralph Weaver, and they were married January 15, 2005. The couple continued to travel the US visiting their extensive combined families, and took many overseas trips, including touring Europe, visiting Australia and New Zealand, and even celebrating Roberta's 80 th birthday while on safari in Tanzania and Kenya. They purchased Roberta's dream house (any house with a view of Long's Peak) in Colorado, and they spent their final years in Hutchinson, KS, sitting next to each other and holding hands until Eldon's passing last December.
Roberta is survived by her beloved children David Clifford Thomas, Richard Lawrence (Cindy) Thomas, Stephen Alan (Jacquie) Thomas, Lisa Cheryl (Paul) McConnell, Linda Jeanne (Jack) Mathewson, and John Scott (Laura) Thomas, and her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored. She was preceded in death by the two great loves of her life, Harry and Eldon, and her cherished sister Carolyn Shirley (Tracy) Herley, along with other cherished family and friends.
