Obituary

Rodney Gene Apps, 67, died December 26, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born August 25, 1955, in Great Bend, to Edwin and Roma (Glenn) Apps.

Rodney graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1973. At this time, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam war until 1977. Following his service Rodney worked for many years as a truck driver. Rodney, also known as, "The King" was an avid bowler and golfer. He was also a diehard fan of the Chiefs and the Celtics. Rodney was a member of Faith Community Bible Church in Burrton. More than anything, Rodney loved his grandchildren and spending time with them was his greatest joy.

Rodney is survived by: wife, Kathryn Apps, Burrton; three step daughters, Dedra Perkins (Lawrence), Mount Hope, Tamra Patrick, Burrton, Kristy Sanchez (Darrel), Wichita; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Funeral will be 1 pm Friday, December 30, 2022, at Faith Community Bible Church, Burrton. Friends may call from 9 am to 8 pm Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
