Obituary

Roger Louis Bigler, 72, died Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born December 15, 1944, in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Louis J. and Charlotte I. (Reckward) Bigler).

Roger graduated from high school in Fowler, Colorado in 1962. He retired in 2009, after 23 years as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Hutchinson. Roger was an avid gardener and enjoyed working with livestock. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and his little buddy, Hank. He was of the Catholic faith.

In 1962, Roger married Kathleen Smith in Rocky Ford, Colorado. They later divorced. On February 19, 1972, he married Patricia Ann Fisher in Fowler, Colorado. She survives of the home.  Other survivors include: sons, Gregory and wife Vickie of Brainerd, Minnesota, Justin and wife Diane of Platte City, Missouri, Brian and wife Kimberly of Sylvia; daughter, Kristine Bigler and fiancé Rick Whited of Brainerd, Minnesota; grandchildren, Andy Bigler and fiancé Amy Gauthier, Alanna Liffrig and husband Brandon, Billy Bigler and wife Alysia, Brady Bigler and fiancé Shar Gordon, Katelyn Bigler, Caleb Bigler, Kinsley Bigler, Kersten Bigler; four great-grandchildren and one expected to arrive in August; brothers, Charles and wife Janice of Pueblo, Colorado, Andy and wife Betty of Fowler, Colorado; sisters, Gloria Bigler and Cheryl Bigler, both of Pueblo, Colorado; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Roger was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Jefferey; and brother, Dennis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2017, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th Ave., Hutchinson, with Father Michael J. Maybrier officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Darlow. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be made to Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County or American Heart Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
