MOODIE, Ala. - Roger K. Kahler, 48, of Moodie, Alabama, formerly of Hutchinson, died Nov. 17, 2010, in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born Nov. 12, 1962, in Hutchinson, the son of Otto and Lorene H. Radke Kahler. He was a Moodie resident since 2008, moving to Alabama from Ocala, Florida. He was a designer for Kenametal-Tricon, which was a specialty metal supplier for heavy equipment. He was a 1981 graduate of Hutchinson High School, and later graduated from Salina Area Vocational Technical School. He was a former member of Northminster Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: his father, Otto Kahler (Wilma), Hutchinson; brothers, Steve Kahler (Charissee), Wichita, Jeff Kahler (Marsha), Canyon Lake, Calif., Paul Kahler (Diane), Kingswood, Texas; a sister, Sharree Phillips (Bob), Wichita; six nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorene H. Kahler, on Jan. 20, 2003, and a nephew, Justin Kahler, in 2005.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at New Covenant Presbyterian Church (formerly Forest Park Presbyterian Church) in Hutchinson, with Rev. Keith Koch presiding. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Mr. Kahler will lie in state Tuesday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
