STERLING - Rolan Lee Cobb, 74, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012. He was born in Oklahoma City, Jan. 18, 1937, the son of D. Monroe and Zona Susan Hufford Cobb.
He was a graduate of Partridge High School, he had been attending Partridge Community Church, was a communications engineer and previous owner of KLOQ radio station.
On Dec. 31, 1977, he married Helen M. Geist in Sterling. She survives. Other survivors include: a daughter, Linda Cobb, Grants Pass, Oregon; a son-in-law, Arlen Nuest, Sterling; four stepsons, Kenneth (Mary) Geist, McPherson, Larry (Barbara) Geist, St. Cloud, Florida, Keith (Lorna) Geist, Bel Aire, and William Ray (Donna) Geist, Sterling; a brother, William (Sally), Wichita; three grandchildren, Brent (Tenille) Nuest, Dustin (Jennifer) Nuest, and Renee (Cale) Nelson; three great-grandchildren, Treten, Bristol and Cate; a nephew, Mike Cobb, and a niece, Rachel Cobb.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Nuest; his parents; his birth mother, Wanda McBride, and his first wife, Donna Ruth Battin.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at Partridge Community Church, with Pastor R. Samuel Askew officiating. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Partridge Community Church or Fairview United Methodist Church, in care of the mortuary.
