BUHLER - Romona Irene Weeks, 90, died Feb. 23, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.

She was born Dec. 3, 1918, in Emporia, the daughter of Allen R. and Myrtle Ann Murry Vickrey. She attended Emporia High School.

A resident of Hutchinson since the mid-eighties, she was the manager of the Burrton restaurant and coffee shop. While in Americus, she was an Avon representative. She and her husband Jesse, were groundskeepers of the Cessna Rivercreek Recreation Grounds, near Hutchinson.

She belonged to Westbrook Baptist Church.

On Aug. 1, 1938, she married Robert Neil Cartwright in Emporia. He died Nov. 23, 1957. On April 8, 1966, she married Jesse E. Weeks in Hartford. He died Aug. 2, 2006.

Survivors include: two sons, Roger Cartwright and wife Betty, Hutchinson, and Tom Cartwright and wife Diana, Edmond, Okla.; a daughter, Freda Schmidt and husband Jerry, Hutchinson; two sisters, Elnora French, Emporia, and Betty Scheve, Olpe; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Jessie Elaine Lang, formerly of Abilene, a granddaughter, Suzanne Schmidt, formerly of Hutchinson, two brothers, and three sisters.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday Feb. 25, 2009, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastors Andy Addis and Bob Shelton presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
