Ron "Andy" Anderton, 75, died Dec. 13, 2015, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. He was born July 21, 1940, in Columbia Mo., to John Anderton and Helen (Douglas) Anderton Hathman. He graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia, Mo., in 1958.
Ron retired from Navy Air and Seabees. He also worked for Cargill Salt for 32 years. Ron was very involved in the community. He was a member of the VFW Bob Campbell Post #1361, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, Vietnam Veterans of America and volunteered as a driver taking veterans to Wichita for their medical appointments, helped at Camp Hope-Heartland, read with the Avenue A readers, and was a Boy Scout leader. Ron was also a member of Union 188 International Chemical Workers. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include: wife, Debra Anderton of the home; daughter, Shawn Marie Anderton of Chicago, Ill.; brothers, Wayne and Raymond Ron "Andy" Anderton, both of Columbia, Mo.; sisters, Sharon Love of Miramar Beach, Fla., and Phyllis Gilpin of Booneville, Mo.; parents-in-law, Jack and Ruth Logan of Hutchinson; stepson, John Womeldorff of Girard; stepdaughter, Karen Hippe of Texas; step-grandchildren, Mallory and Christopher Womeldorff and Tyler Doak; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at Elliott Chapel with Bishop Joshua Sant officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family present from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
