Ron Heckel, 61, died Feb. 14, 2006, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
He was born Sept. 25, 1944, in Hutchinson, the son of Frederick and Theresa Myrle McMurphy Heckel. He was a longtime resident of Hutchinson.
He belonged to the National Association of Radio Operators and ITXA Indian Nation.
On Aug. 11, 1978, he married Judith E. Griffeth in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Eldon, South Hutchinson; two daughters, Tina Rosiere and Melissa Scott, both of Hutchinson; a stepson, Bob Pitts, Lawrence; a stepdaughter, Beth Williams, Arlington; three brothers, Dale, Wichita, Harlan, Missouri, and Richard, Lyons; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Galen; a sister, Mildred Parker; and a granddaughter.
Memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Friday at the home of his daughter, Melissa Scott, with Pastor Betty Pinkston presiding.
