Ron Johnson, 78, of Abbyville, died April 29, 2024, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler. He was born December 13, 1945, in Hutchinson, to Ralph W. and Lorene V. (Kasselman) Johnson.

Ron graduated from Fairfield High School in 1964 and from Phillips University, Enid, OK, in 1968 with a business degree. He was very active in the Abbyville community, serving as a volunteer firefighter for Abbyville and participating in the Abbyville Rodeo Booster Club and 4-H Club. Ron enjoyed being a part of Gideons International and collecting model tractors.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Ron was a member of Plevna Community Bible Church, Plevna.

On April 19, 1980, he married Roxanne Lennard in Plevna. They shared almost 40 years of marriage before her death on April 6, 2020.

Ron is survived by his: son, Ryan (Tia) Johnson of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Mac, Calla, and Carmen, all of Omaha; brothers, Ray Johnson of Plevna and Darrell (Paula) Johnson of Kansas City, MO; brother-in-law, Rod (Sandra) Lennard of Bella Vista, AR; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; daughter-in-law, Jill (Rothfuss) Johnson; and sister-in-law, Beverly Johnson.

The graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Abbyville Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Plevna Community Bible Church, 110 W. 3rd Ave., Plevna, KS 67568. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary.
