Obituary

Ronald C. Bruce, 74, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. He was born Oct. 12, 1941, in Little River, to Glenn and Georgia Marie (Halbert) Bruce.

Ron graduated from Windom High School in 1959, and Hutchinson Junior College in 1961. He was a devoted farmer and stockman. Ron was totally involved in farming and thoroughly enjoyed that lifestyle. His idea of a fun Sunday afternoon was taking the family around to the different pastures to check his cattle and feed them salt. Ron remained active on the farm until 2009. His favorite past-time was telling jokes and playing cards. He was a member of Young Farmers of America, USD #444 Little River-Windom School Board, Area Vo-Tech Board, Little River Lions Club, and the Army National Reserves. Ron was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

On Feb. 3, 1967, he married Doris Smyres at the Inman United Church of Christ. She survives. Other survivors include: children, Ross and wife Darla, Hiawatha, Ronda Moore and husband Robert, Inman, Royce and wife Sheena, Windom; grandchildren, Kaela and Wade Moore, Riley and Kyle Bruce, Kia, Danae, Tasha, Alana, and Sierra Bruce; sister, Marlee Anderson, McPherson. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will follow in Bean Cemetery, Little River. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County or Kaela Moore Medical Account, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
