Obituary

Ronald L. Denny, 54, of Hutchinson, died April 24, 2010, at Via Christi St. Francis Campus in Wichita.

He was born Feb. 1, 1956, in Louisville, Ky., the son of Terry Macklin and Johnnie Mae White Graves.

He was a graduate of Baumholder American High School in Germany and the University of Louisville. While in high school he played forward on the Baumholder Buccaneers basketball team, and made the winning shot in a win over Berlin American High School. He also played linebacker for the high school football team. He later played semi-pro football, playing both linebacker and fullback. He moved to Hutchinson in 1986 from Louisville and was a heavy equipment operator for Reno County. Previously he was a Sergeant at Hutchinson Correctional Facility. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church.
Ron married Gayle Clark on Nov. 6, 1992, in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: sons, Michael Schoenhoff and wife Karen, Sylvia, and August Denny, Hutchinson; daughters, Victoria Denny, Louisville, Ky., and Michelle Demoret, Hutchinson; father-in-law, Don Clark, Hutchinson; brothers-in-law, Phil Clark, Hutchinson, and Ron Clark and wife Mary Anne, Council Grove; sister-in-law, Debby Gruver and husband Jim, Hutchinson; three grandchildren, Brittany Carter, Gage Schoenhoff and Mercedes Rodriguez.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lindsey Graves; and his mother-in-law, Virginia Clark.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson. Mr. Denny will lie in state Monday from 1 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family to greet friends on Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m., all at the mortuary. Burial will be in Lone Star Cemetery, Pretty Prairie.
