BUHLER - Ronald L. Hicks, 54, died Dec. 19, 2008, in Stafford County.

He was born Aug. 16, 1954, in Longmont, Colo., the son of Bradley L. and Helen Ruble Hicks. He graduated from Edgewater High School, College Park, Fla., in 1973, attended Valencia Community College, Florida, received his B.S. in History from the University of Central Florida in 1978, and received his Masters Degree in History from the University of Central Florida. A resident of Buhler since 1995, he was a history instructor at Hutchinson Community College.

He belonged to the Hutchinson National Faculty Association, National Education Association, and served on many and various committees at Hutchinson Community College. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He married Joan Wolfe in Florida. They were divorced. On March 21, 1996, he married Barbara C. Ulrich in Partridge. They were divorced.

Survivors include: four sons, Jonathan M. Hicks, Independence, Mo., Andrew D. Hicks, Tampa, Fla., Tyler Lee Ulrich-Hicks, and Nathan Ronald Ulrich-Hicks, both of South Hutchinson; his mother, Helen Hicks, Newark, Ohio; two brothers, Richard, Huntington, Md., and Randy, Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Karen Bell, Newark, Ohio, and Tammy Beyazurak, Daytona, Fla.; and a grandson, Bentley Hicks, Independence, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday Dec. 24, 2008, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at Elliott Mortuary, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Buhler Cemetery, Buhler.
