Obituary

Roseanne Baldwin, 79, died March 24, 2015, at Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital, Wichita. She was born July 5, 1935, at St. Rose Hospital in Great Bend, the daughter of Lewis Anderson Thompson and Viola Irene (Adams) Thompson. A lifetime Kansas resident, she lived as a child on a farm near Raymond. On September 6, 1953, she married John L. Baldwin in Great Bend and lived there until 1968 when she moved to Hutchinson, where she lived the rest of her life. John died May 14, 2004.

She was a homemaker, inspiration to her husband John and family and friend to many. She worked prior to marriage for Security State Bank in Great Bend as bookkeeper and teller. She graduated Great Bend High School in 1952 and attended secretarial training in Omaha, Nebraska.

She appreciated the arts and worked for 30 years as secretary for Community Concerts, both in Great Bend and Hutchinson, booking concerts, overseeing ticket drives and handling details for the artists.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Athena Club and, in her youth, was a pianist for her church and civic events including operettas. She was a former Job's Daughter. Over the years, numerous community organizations have benefited from her support, including Campfire Girls, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Kansas Agricultural Rural Leadership, Hutchinson Cosmosphere, Reins of Hope, Boys & Girls Club and Hutchinson Community Foundation.

She was preceded in death by a brother, James Anderson Thompson, lost at childbirth with her mother on June 16, 1942. Roseanne's father died September 28, 1983.

Her survivors include: four children and six grandchildren, Sheri Baldwin of Hutchinson; Mark Baldwin, wife Debbie, son Bates and daughter Victoria, of Wichita; Stephanie Moncrief, husband Monty, daughter Megan and son Matthew, of Plano, Texas; and Mitchell Baldwin, wife Kay, daughter Jennifer O'Hara and husband Shaun, and son Eric, of Overland Park, Kansas; and a sister Joyce Silva and husband Robert of Rowland Heights, California.

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 17th and Main St., with Reverend Mike McGuire officiating. Private family graveside services will be held. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
