Rosemary R. "Rosie" Shackelford-Grandestaff, 81, died Aug. 1, 2008 at Pleasant View Home, Inman.

She was born May 28, 1927, in Arlington, the daughter of Clifton C. and Alpha E. Pennington Shacelford.

She graduated from Hutchinson High School with the class of 1945. A resident of Hutchinson, she was a supervisor for Contel/Verizon Telephone Company

She served in the Naval Reserve for four years, and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol during World War II.

Survivors include: a daughter, Lyndee Abbott and her husband David, Hutchinson; a sister Margie Zimmerman, Hutchinson; James Finley II; granddaughters, Jodee Valley, Denise Jones and Heather Short; 13 great grandchildrend and a great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Carol Finley, four brothers, Wesley Shackelford, Walter Shackelford, Robert Shackelford and Dale shackelford and a sister Margaret Austin.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson with Pastor Ray E. Kempel presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, with military graveside rites conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
