Rowena R. Mendell's Obituary
Rowena R. Mendell, 96, died May 5, 2010, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
She was born Dec. 8, 1913, in Magnum, Okla., the daughter of William and Cora Murphy Fairhurst.
She graduated from Hutchinson High School and the Salt City Business College. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church.
On June 1, 1933, she married Fred H. Mendell in Oklahoma City, Okla. He died Sept. 11, 1994.
Survivors include: sons, Fredrick and wife Jan, Salina, and William D. and his significant other Terry Sato, Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2010, in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Jim Rhaesa presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County or the church, in care of the mortuary.
