Roy was also a 57-year member of the Civitan Club of Hutchinson, where he served as president in 1964 and as Lt. Governor of the Kansas/Oklahoma District.

On May 15, 1949, he married Joan Farney in Hutchinson. They recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. She survives. Other survivors include: children, Randy Dunn and wife Nita of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Deborah Dunn-Smoot and husband Richard of Raleigh, North Carolina, Bradley Dunn and wife Kelly of Hutchinson; brother, Ralph Dunn of Ottawa; sisters, Wanda Volker and husband Roger of Stafford, Bonnie Scoggins and husband Wayne of Norman, Okla.; and grandchildren, Brandi Dunn, Joel Heiman, Justin Smoot, and Judi Dunn. He was preceded in death by his parents.
