Dr. Roy Clayton Russell DVM, 91, of Hutchinson, died February 11, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society – Hutchinson Village. He was born June 6, 1933, in Eureka, to John William and Velma "Bernadine" (Wright) Russell.

Roy graduated from Eureka High School in 1952, Kansas State University in 1956, and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University in 1960. Roy moved to Hutchinson in 1960 to open his own practice and has owned and operated Country Junction Companion Animal Clinic for many years, retiring in June, 2024.

Roy loved K-state football and basketball, golfing, hunting, and riding motorcycles.

On December 28, 2005, he married Susan M. Mauck at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: his son, Burke Russell and wife Dini of Sarasota, FL; grandsons, Tanner Russell and Taden Russell of Sarasota, FL; granddaughter, Kayla May and husband Jesse of Wichita; great-grandchildren, Tytan May, Amylia May, Paisley May, of Wichita; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Amy Sue Russell; and brothers, Bill and John.

Cremation has taken place.

To celebrate Roy's life, the family will be present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2025, at Elliott Chapel.

Private family inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cause for Paws or Reins of Hope, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
