Obituary

Roy E. Stutzman, 90, died Dec. 23, 2008, at Mennonite Manor. He was born Dec. 21, 1918, in Hydro, Okla., the son of Samuel E. and Barbara Slagel Stutzman. He was a resident of the Hutchinson area since 1941.

He was a retired farmer and a former machinist for Cessna/Eaton. He was also custodian for Yoder Mennonite Church. He was a member of the former Yoder Mennonite Church and was active in Mennonite Disaster Service.

On Dec. 24, 1939, he married Alice E. Bontrager in rural Haven. She survives. Other survivors include: Gary and wife Doris, Newton; daughters, Eileen Burkholder and husband Howard, Hutchinson, Marilyn Yoder and husband Leonard, Hutchinson, Nancy Neff and husband Del, Ronks, Pa., and Arleta Martin and husband Ken, Akron, Pa.; brother, Dr. Howard Stutzman, La Junta, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Myron, and three sisters, Dorothy Mast, Ruth Miller and Lois Waters.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Journey at Yoder, with the Rev. Peter Hartman officiating. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Journey at Yoder Activity Center. Memorials may be sent to the Mennonite Disaster Service or the Mennonite Manor in care of the mortuary.
