Roylynn V. Crathorne's Obituary
Roylynn V. Crathorne, 95, died Jan. 3, 2009, at her home, Hutchinson.
She was born July 15, 1913, in Gorham, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Witt Furthmyer.
She graduated from Gorham High School and then later Salt City Business College.
A longtime resident of Hutchinson, she had worked at Wiley's Department Store for 10 years, and then worked for 19 years at Singleton Joyce Optical Service, in both the office and the lab.
She belonged to the Church of the Holy Cross, and the Altar Society of the church.
On Oct. 12, 1931, she married Merle L. Crathorne in Harrisonville, Mo. He died June 19, 1995.
Survivors include: a son, Gerald "Jerry" and wife Dolores, Hutchinson; two grandsons, Steve and Scott, both of Gorham; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Orville Furthmyer; and a sister, Alice O'Brien.
Parish rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 7, 2009, at the church, with Father Joseph Eckberg presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be sent to the Terry C. Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research or Hospice of Reno County, both in care of the mortuary.
