Ruby F. Hill, 83, died May 14, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.
She was born July 31, 1925, in Moundridge, to Jacob R. and Ardina B. Froese Gaeddert Hill. She graduated from Inman Rural High School. She was a retired receptionist and office manager for 20 years at Horizons Mental Health Center.
Ruby touched many people throughout her life with her sweet spirit, from the teachers she had as a young child in elementary school, her family, her friends, her co-workers, even the nurses and doctors that cared for her the last weeks of her life.
She belonged to the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, receiving a "Special Mission Recognition" Award in 1997, the Twilight Circle of the church, and TOPS.
On Aug. 4, 1945, she married Delmar C. Hill in Jacksonville, Fla. He died Nov. 27, 2006.
Survivors include: sons, Larry, Hutchinson, Bruce and wife Sue, Hutchinson, and Randy and wife Susan, Kingman; sisters, Lavina Ediger, Buhler, and Emma Jean Ore, Aurora, Colo.; granddaughters, Ambi Smith, Edmond, Okla., Staci Thompson and husband David, Tulsa, Okla.; and great-granddaughters, Victoria, Lillian and Ella Grace Smith.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Eugene, brother, Arlin Gaeddert, sister, Sophie Thiessen, and a grandson, Robert Hill.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday May 18, 2009, at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Susan Charest Wickiser and Jimie-Wray Meade. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
