Ruby B. Smith's Obituary
Ruby B. Smith, 89, died Jan. 21, 2009, at Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson.
She was born Aug. 22, 1919, at Greensburg, the daughter of Aaron Ross and Blanche Seelye Spurgin.
She was a 1937 graduate of Collinsville, Okla., High School. She had been a cashier at Safeway's, a waitress at George's Café and a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Christian Church.
On June 6, 1957, she married Carol W. Smith, at Clovis, N.M. He survives. Other survivors include: son Jeff and wife, Linda, Hutchinson; daughter, Jackie Lamkin, Hutchinson; brother, Homer Spurgin, Gore, Okla.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Samuel and Charlie Spurgin, and a sister, Elizabeth Spurgin, and a nephew, Homer David Spurgin.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, with Pastors John Warring and Dan Price presiding. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Center, or the Hospice House, in care of the mortuary.
