Obituary

Rudolf M. 'Rudy' Garcia Sr., 93, of Hutchinson, died Thursday, August 23, 2018, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born September 4, 1924, in Hutchinson, to Mauro and Pauline (Jaramillo) Garcia.

Rudolf attended Salt City Business College. He retired from KSIR (later known as Hutchinson Correctional Facility) as a correctional officer. Rudolf proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

On October 29, 1949, he married Ofelia Rodriguez in Newton. She survives. Rudolf is survived by: his wife, Ofelia of Hutchinson; son, Rudy Garcia Jr. and wife Kelly of Hutchinson; daughters, Cecilia Eldredge, and Helen Weis and husband Thomas, all of Hutchinson; sisters, Irene Anzo and Virginia Roman, both of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Rudolf was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Angie Amaro and Katie Gallardo; brothers, Morris and John Garcia; and son-in-law, Charles Eldredge.

Parish Rosary will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Rd., Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m., officiated by Reverend Juan Garza. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or Hospice and Homecare of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
