Russell M. "Russ" Fischer, 67, of Hutchinson, died Dec. 21, 2010, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born Jan. 31, 1943, in Waterloo, Ill., the son of Oliver and Edrie Vivian Gariepy Fischer.
He attended schools in Waterloo and was an oil field service worker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany.

He married Mary Ann Watson in 1966 in Russell, Kan. She died July 3, 2007. He later married Patricia Fern Hodges in Hutchinson. She died Aug. 23, 2010. Survivors include: daughters, Sharlene Buckmaster of Derby and Ruth Ann Fischer of Wichita; brothers, John Fischer of Wichita, Dale Fischer of Hutchinson and Ronald Fischer of Columbia, Ill.; a sister, Patricia Graves of Waterloo, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepbrother, James Stapelton.

A visitation for Mr. Fischer will be Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary for friends and family. Cremation will follow.

Military inurnment services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo., with honors provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Elliott Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
