Obituary

Ruth Edna Gnuse, 91, died June 21, 2006 at Pleasant View Home, Inman.

She was born July 4, 1914 in Quincy, IL, the daughter of William and Anna Dicks Hillman.
She graduated in 1931 from Quincy High School, Quincy, IL. A Hutchinson resident since 1958, she was a teacher for 22 years at Quincy, IL public schools, retiring in 1958.

She belonged to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, was president of the Women's Teacher's Club, Quincy Teacher's Association, and the Adams County Teacher's Association all in Quincy, IL.
She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for 35 years, with the American Red Cross and with the Lutheran Braille Workers. She served on various church committees, and held all offices in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.

On Feb. 16, 1946, she married Ralph Herman Gnuse in Quincy, IL. He died June 14, 1993.

Survivors include: a daughter, Sharon K. Patry and husband Larry, Hutchinson; a grandson, Jeffrey A. Patry, Minneapolis, MN; a granddaughter, Lisa R. Unruh and husband Bryan, Hutchinson; a nephew and two nieces.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Reverend Thomas B. Mendenhall presiding. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2006 in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, IL, with the Rev. Marlin Rempfer presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
