Ruth P. Gowens' Obituary
Ruth Pauline Gowens, 87, died March 23, 2007, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
She was born Jan. 30, 1920, in Trousdale, the daughter of Jay and Blanche Greene Gould. A resident of Hutchinson since the mid 60s, moving from Pratt, she was a retired nursery nurses' aide at the former St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Hutchinson.
On April 14, 1956, she married Martin Gowens in Pratt. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Philip, Atlanta, and Michael, Lansing; a daughter, Kim Cartwright, Hutchinson; two brothers, Earl Gould, Pratt, and Dwayne Gould, Joplin, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers: Willis, Warren, Lee, Bobby and Lloyd Gould; and a sister, Gladys Phelps.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Pastor Harold E. Nelson presiding. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
