Ruth S. Luna, 95, died Feb. 16, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson.

She was born Jan. 2, 1913, in Dodge City, the daughter of Tommie R. and Stella Bell Enser Southards. A resident of the Hutchinson area since 1942, moving from St. John, she was a homemaker.

She was a former member of the First Baptist Church.

On July 12, 1931, she married Leonard L. Luna, in Larned. He died March 6, 1981.

Survivors include: a brother, Robert Southards, Tetard, Ore.; a sister, Berta Lee Wattenburger, Pasco, Wash.; a daughter-in-law, Vi Luna, Missouri; six grandchildren, Mike Kretzer and wife Mary Jane, Derby, Gary Kretzer and wife Rhonda, Hutchinson, Linda Schwartz and husband Leland, Hutchinson, Mike Luna and wife Stephanie, Tacoma, Wash., Mark Luna and wife Suzanne, Tucson, Ariz., and Rhonda Pitts, North Carolina; 12 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: a son, Melvin Luna; a daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Donald Kretzer; four brothers, Walter, Clarence, Harvey and Virgil Southards; and a sister, Dorothy Winters.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Andy Addis presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.
